The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi FHSN, AvHF, FNAL was a Guest Speaker to Course 31 at the National Defence College in Abuja,  where he delivered a lecture on the topic: "Building Social Resilience in Inter-Group Relations: Implications for National Security in Nigeria".

While delivering the thought-provoking lecture, Professor Akinwumi emphasized that for us to have peace and tranquility in Nigeria, all ethnic nationalities must come to terms with the fact that there is a need for tolerance, good neighbourliness, mutual understanding, equity and the like, stressing that the constitution should be respected.

Speaking further, the erudite scholar and Professor of history said: "the constitution tells us that all of us, irrespective of our ethnicity and creed are equal before the law. Equitable application and administration of the core values of the constitution on all citizens will entrench collective interests, which in turn, will enhance socio-economic and political stability with far-reaching implications for Nigeria's national security and development."
