NOUN Accountant’s Father, Chief Owoh Njionye, Laid to Rest in Abia
Chief Njionye, popularly known as "Iya Owoh," passed away on May 30, 2024, at the age of 80. Tributes during the burial ceremony celebrated his humility, kindness, and dedication to community development.
The remains of Chief Owoh Njionye, father of Mrs. Ezinne Uduma, Chief Accountant of the Abakaliki Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), were laid to rest at his residence in Ezi Ndi Oturu, Amajaukwu Autonomous Community, Ahaba-Imenyi, Isuikwuato Local Government Area, Abia State.
Chief Njionye, popularly known as "Iya Owoh," passed away on May 30, 2024, at the age of 80. Tributes during the burial ceremony celebrated his humility, kindness, and dedication to community development.
The NOUN South-East Regional Media Officer, who attended the ceremony, described Chief Njionye as a peace-loving man whose easy-going nature and thoughtfulness touched everyone he met. In 2013, he was honored with the chieftaincy title “Chief Onyeokworo Yarie,” a testament to his lifetime of tolerance and service to his people.
Among those present were Prof. Uduma Oji Uduma, son-in-law to the late chief, as well as Study Centre directors Dr. Ama Aka Udu (Abakaliki), Dr. Nkata U. Kalu (Asaga-Ohafia), and Dr. Bibian Ugoala (Akwa). Also in attendance were Mr. Matthew Egede, Principal Assistant Registrar of Enugu Study Centre, and staff from the Abakaliki Centre.
The event was a celebration of a life lived with purpose and devotion, leaving a lasting legacy in his community.
