FUNAAB Launches Bio-Risk Management Policy to Enhance Campus Safety

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has launched its Bio-Risk Management Policy, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all members of the university community.

The policy aims to promote safety, foster innovation, and protect the university community, including students, staff, researchers, and visitors.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Kehinde, emphasized that the policy is a vital tool in addressing the growing challenges associated with research involving biological agents. He noted that the policy would help institutionalize a robust culture of risk awareness and biosafety compliance in all research and academic activities.

The policy outlines core objectives, including hazard identification, risk assessment, risk mitigation, training, and awareness. It also aligns with national and international biosafety regulations, including those of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA).

The launch of the Bio-Risk Management Policy marks a significant stride in FUNAAB's mission to maintain excellence in research and learning within a safe, secure, and globally compliant academic environment.
