FUNAAB Launches CyberTitans Initiative to Deepen Cybersecurity Awareness on Campus

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta has intensified efforts to promote digital safety and cybersecurity consciousness with the successful hosting of the maiden edition of its campus-wide Cybersecurity Awareness Initiative (CAI), led by cybersecurity expert Prof. Adebukola Onashoga.

The two-day programme, held on April 15 and 16, 2026, culminated in the unveiling of the FUNAAB CyberTitans, a student-driven cybersecurity advocacy network designed to position the institution among Nigeria’s emerging hubs for digital security education and innovation.

The initiative, themed “Pause, Prevent, Protect for a Cyber Safe Culture,” featured extensive awareness campaigns across the university community alongside a grand finale hosted at the College of Computing Sciences Auditorium 3. The event drew participation from students, academic staff, and invited guests.

As part of the awareness campaign, members of the CyberTitans Planning Committee embarked on grassroots sensitisation exercises across lecture halls, hostels, relaxation centres, and other strategic locations within the campus. The students educated members of the university community on practical cybersecurity measures, including password protection, phishing detection, and the dangers associated with sharing One-Time Passwords (OTPs). Educational flyers and stickers were also distributed to reinforce key safety messages.
