FUNAAB Wraps Up 2026 Intercollegiate Sports as COLAMRUD Emerges Overall Champion
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has concluded its 2026 Intercollegiate Sports and Vice-Chancellor’s Cup Competition, drawing widespread participation from students across its colleges in a vibrant showcase of sportsmanship, unity, and competitive spirit.

The tournament came to a close on April 15, 2026, with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, represented by the Dean of the College of Plant Science and Crop Production, Prof. Bolarinwa Senjobi, commending participants and stakeholders for their active involvement. He described the competition as a key platform for strengthening unity and celebrating shared achievements within the university community.
The football final between the College of Environmental Resources Management and the College of Physical Sciences attracted a lively crowd, with the former securing a 2–0 victory. Goals from Richard Oyebisi and Matthew Olayinka sealed the win in a match marked by high intensity and enthusiastic support from spectators.
Speaking earlier, the Director of Sports and Wellness, Dr. Samuel Olabanji, praised the seamless organisation of the tournament, noting that it was delivered within the scheduled timeframe. He emphasised the role of sporting activities in providing students with opportunities for relaxation and recreation alongside academic responsibilities.
He also acknowledged the Vice-Chancellor’s sustained support for student-focused initiatives, stating that the administration’s commitment continues to drive holistic student development across the institution.
At the conclusion of the competition, the College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development emerged as the overall winner across multiple sporting events. Outstanding teams and participants were recognised with medals and certificates.
The event closed on a celebratory note, with appreciation extended to the university management for maintaining the Vice-Chancellor’s Cup Competition as a platform for fostering intercollegiate relationships and promoting recreational engagement.

Notable dignitaries in attendance included former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Kola Adebayo; Dean of the College of Biosciences, Prof. Iyabode Kehinde; and Director of Sports at the Federal College of Education, Osiele, Dr. Morufu Balogun, among others.
