FUTA Alumni Association North America Awards N5 Million in Scholarships

The Federal University of Technology Akure Alumni Association, North America (FUTANA), has generously awarded N5 million in scholarships to outstanding and indigent students. The scholarships were given to the most improved student, best female student, and best student in each school, as well as selected indigent students. The virtual presentation ceremony took place on July 26, 2024.

FUTANA President Mr. Femi Aboderin, who also served as the President of FUTASU in 1997/98, expressed his pride in collaborating with the university and highlighted the vital role of alumni in university growth. Project Director Dr. Olufemi Fajolu, from the 2001 set, congratulated the 39 recipients and emphasized FUTANA's commitment to student success.

Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji lauded FUTANA's efforts, especially for supporting indigent students, and stressed the importance of alumni contributions in advancing the university's mission. She encouraged the scholarship recipients to use the funds wisely and to give back in the future.

Dean of Student Affairs, Professor David Oke, noted that the scholarship would alleviate financial burdens, urging students to excel in their studies. Beneficiary Adedire Afolabi expressed gratitude on behalf of all recipients, promising to honor the trust placed in them by FUTANA and the university management.
