The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) Alumni Worldwide Association has inaugurated its newly elected executive officers, with Mr. Billy Ibuje taking the helm as President.

The swearing-in ceremony was held on November 25, 2025, at the University’s Alumni Building.

In his acceptance address, Mr. Ibuje acknowledged the contributions of past leaders and alumni, describing the association as “a formidable force” shaped by decades of commitment and excellence. He outlined eight strategic pillars for his administration, including fostering alumni unity, completing ongoing projects, establishing strategic partnerships, creating a sustainable FUTA Alumni Welfare Fund, implementing the “One Set, One Project” initiative, strengthening collaboration with university management, inaugurating diaspora branches, and expanding national chapters.

“The task before us is the ultimate systems engineering project,” Ibuje said. “Together, we will debug the challenges of the past, code a new software of collaboration, and build an edifice of progress that will inspire generations of FUTARIANS yet unborn.”

Speaking earlier, FUTA Vice-Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji encouraged the incoming executives to build an inclusive and impactful alumni community. She stressed the importance of engagement, mentorship, and cultivating a culture of giving to sustain the association’s growth.

The outgoing president, Engr. Adeyemi Bello, reflected on his tenure, highlighting achievements aimed at leaving lasting legacies for both the alumni body and the University. He expressed confidence in the new leadership to continue investing in FUTA’s intellectual and infrastructural resources.

The swearing-in was administered by the University Legal Officer, Barr. Osiomwanuri Efosa. Other executives include Mr. Adeyemi Adesanya (1st Vice President), Hon. Adetunji Ajala (Secretary), Mr. Haruna Okunbanjo (Assistant General Secretary), Mr. Bangbebe Emmanuel (Treasurer), Hon. Anthony Ojo (Financial Secretary), and Mr. Idede Osayande (Public Relations Officer).
