FUTA Alumnus Earns PhD in Virology, Wins Multiple Awards in Canada University
Titus Olukitibi, a distinguished alumnus of the Department of Microbiology at the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), has made remarkable achievement of achieving PhD in Virology, Immunology, Medical Microbiology, and Infectious Diseases from the University of Manitoba in Canada. In addition to his academic accomplishments, Dr. Olukitibi has also graduated as the best graduating student in Mobile and Online Church Ministry from Faith Leeds University and the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
Titus Olukitibi, a distinguished alumnus of the Department of Microbiology at the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), has made remarkable achievement of completing his PhD in Virology, Immunology, Medical Microbiology, and Infectious Diseases from the University of Manitoba in Canada.
Olukitibi, who graduated with a First Class Degree from FUTA in 2012, has demonstrated exceptional academic prowess by earning his PhD with a focus on the characterization and development of viral vaccines against influenza, HIV, and SARS-CoV-2 using a Nobel DC Targeting Strategy.

His research has led to the publication of 11 papers in prestigious international journals, earning him numerous full scholarships, including the 2023 PhD Basic Health Science Major Research Award and the 2023 Gold Award for Poster Presentation at the International College of Academic Medicine.
In addition to his academic accomplishments, Dr. Olukitibi has als obtained a certificate in Mobile and Online Church Ministry from Faith Leeds University and the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), where he excelled as one of the best graduating students.

In a statement, Dr. Olukitibi expressed his gratitude to his supervisors and committee members at the University of Manitoba, saying, "I thank God for my PhD convocation at the University of Manitoba. I appreciate the support and advice from my supervisor Xiaojian Yao and my committee members Drs. Lyle McKinnon, Darwyn Kobasa, and Sam Kung."
He also acknowledged the department of MMID Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, for making him feel at home during his PhD journey.
