FUTA Alumnus John Akinloye Triumphs in Unity Bank's Entrepreneurship Competition at NYSC Camp

John Akinloye, an alumnus of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), has won Unity Bank's Entrepreneurship Competition held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Cross River State.

John Akinloye, an alumnus of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), has won Unity Bank's Entrepreneurship Competition held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Cross River State. Out of 120 entries from National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, Akinloye's innovative business idea was recognized as the best, earning him a grant of ₦800,000.

Akinloye’s journey began three weeks ago when he arrived at the NYSC camp, an experience he initially found unappealing but embraced with determination. Upon learning of the Corpreneurship opportunity from Unity Bank, he seized the moment to pitch his business plan. His proposal was selected among the top ten out of the initial 120 entries.

In his own words, Akinloye expressed gratitude and excitement: “Thanks be to God for this opportunity. It was rigorous but rewarding. I am proud to be a product of FUTA, and this success is a testament to the support I’ve received from my family, the FUTA community, and my mentors.”

The competition's grand finale took place on September 13, 2024, where Akinloye was announced as the winner. He plans to use the grant to further his farming business, aiming to grow his initiative into a significant enterprise.

Akinloye extended his thanks to Unity Bank PLC, the Cross River State NYSC officials, his fellow contestants, and numerous supporters who contributed to his success.
