FUTA Announces 36th Convocation Ceremony Schedule and Guidelines for Graduating Students

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Professor Adenike Temidayo Oladiji, FAS, on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Staff, and Students, has announced that the 36th Convocation Ceremony of the institution will hold from Friday, 7th to Saturday, 15th November 2025.

According to a statement signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr. Charles Olusegun Adeleye, the ceremony will feature several events, culminating in the official award of degrees to graduating students.

The University noted that parents, guardians, and members of the public will not be allowed into the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium, the main venue of the event. However, a Special Viewing Area equipped with digital screens has been designated for them to follow proceedings live. Access to this area will be strictly by invitation card.

Only officials and guests with the appropriate identification tags will be admitted into event venues, while vehicles without official tags will be restricted from movement within the campus.

For graduating students, participation in the academic procession is mandatory. Students must be fully robed in the approved academic gowns and present at the robing venue — the car park of the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium — by 8:00 a.m. The procession will commence at 8:30 a.m., and latecomers or unrobed students will not be allowed to join.

Graduating students are also required to pay the prescribed fees for academic gowns, specially designed scrolls, and other official items, including the Order of Proceedings, which contains the list of all graduates. Ph.D. students are to obtain their gowns through the School of Postgraduate Studies.

During the ceremony, movement in and out of the venue will not be permitted. Students are therefore advised to comply with all directives and liaise with their respective schools for details regarding payment schedules, invitation cards, and other ceremony-related arrangements.

The Registrar extended the University’s congratulations to all graduating students and their families, wishing them safe travels to and from Akure, Ondo State.
