On Friday, 14th November 2025, the Management and Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) commissioned three new facilities to bolster learning and academic engagement.

The newly inaugurated projects include the Forestry and Wood Technology Building (School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology), a 2-in-1 Lecture Theatre serving both the School of Electrical Systems Engineering and SAAT, and another 2-in-1 Lecture Theatre for the College of Health Sciences. The commissioning coincided with the university’s 36th Convocation Ceremony.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Distinguished Senator Nora Daduut, lauded the efforts of the Management, led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji, and the Directorate of Physical Planning, headed by Engr. Oladeji Boyinbode, for their exemplary commitment to infrastructural development. She noted that such achievements motivate the Council to pursue further initiatives, describing FUTA as a continually evolving and expanding institution. She urged staff and students to maintain and preserve the newly commissioned structures to ensure their longevity.

Speaking at the event, Director of Physical Planning, Engr. Oladeji Boyinbode, highlighted the steady growth in FUTA’s infrastructural landscape over recent years. He expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and the university management for their unwavering support in sustaining FUTA’s reputation as Nigeria’s leading University of Technology.
