FUTA Students Union Scholarship Makes Significant Impact, Disburses N6 Million to 280 Students

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) Students' Union has achieved a remarkable milestone in its indigent scholarship program, disbursing over N6 million to 280 students since its inception in 2017.

This initiative aims to support students facing financial difficulties, ensuring they can continue their education without undue hardship.

The scholarship program has received commendations from university officials, including the Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape, and the Alumni President, Comrade Olaitan Adesomoju. The program's success is attributed to the collaborative efforts of the student union, alumni, and prominent donors.

In the 2024/2025 academic year, the Students' Union took full financial responsibility for the initiative, disbursing over N1.36 million to cover tuition fees for students across various levels. This development signals a deepening commitment to making the scholarship self-sustaining ¹.
