Delegations from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), and the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) have undertaken a strategic working visit to Malaysian universities to advance discussions on academic and research collaboration.

The delegation was led by the Vice-Chancellor of FUTA, Prof. Adenike Oladiji, alongside the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Timothy Amos. They were joined by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole. The team visited Sunview University and the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) as part of efforts to strengthen international academic linkages.
Key highlights of the visit included high-level engagements with the management of the host institutions and discussions centred on capacity building, joint research initiatives, staff and student exchange programmes, and collaborative postgraduate training. Central to the engagements was the development and signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to formalise academic and research cooperation among the institutions.
The university leaders emphasized the importance of international partnerships in enhancing global visibility, improving research output, and promoting innovation-driven teaching and learning. They noted that collaboration with reputable Malaysian universities would create opportunities for shared expertise, access to global research networks, and exposure to international best practices.

The visit reflects the commitment of FUTA and UNILORIN to internationalisation and their strategic drive to position Nigerian universities competitively within the global higher education landscape.
