Generator Fumes Claim Lives: Seven Victims, Including Students, Found Dead in Yenagoa Studio
The deceased individuals were said to be working in the recording studio located along Transformer Road in the Amarata axis of Yenagoa. Six of them were later discovered dead in the morning, while one victim, who was unconscious, was rushed to the hospital but later gave up the ghost.
Tragedy struck in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, on Tuesday when seven young men lost their lives, including students, after inhaling fumes from a power generator inside a music studio.
The deceased individuals were said to be working in the recording studio located along Transformer Road in the Amarata axis of Yenagoa. The studio was owned by one of them, identified as Akpos Barakubo. According to area residents, the studio crew worked into the midnight hours using their generator due to poor public power supply in the state. However, they may have fallen asleep and forgotten to switch off the generator.

Six of them were later discovered dead in the morning, while one victim, who was unconscious, was rushed to the hospital but later gave up the ghost. Sources indicate that most of the deceased were undergraduate students of Niger Delta University (NDU), Amasoma, Bayelsa State, who were involved in the music recording business to support themselves while in school.

As of the time of this report, security operatives have cordoned off the area, and the victims’ bodies have been evacuated to the mortuary.
