In a landmark moment for academic innovation and global engagement, the Vice-Chancellor of Gombe State University, Prof. Sani Ahmed Yauta, successfully hosted the first-ever TEDx event, themed “Unboxed Minds.”

The maiden edition brought together a dynamic mix of speakers, including students, alumni, staff, and notable public figures, who shared powerful ideas aimed at challenging conventional thinking and inspiring change.

The event featured a rich lineup of talks that reflected the spirit of TEDx: ideas worth spreading.

Speakers explored thought-provoking themes such as “Unlearning the Names We Give Women,” “Minority Is a Mindset,” and “Why Laws Need Conscience.” These talks pushed boundaries, encouraging the audience to rethink identity, societal labels, and the role of personal conviction in shaping a better future.

Adding depth and creativity to the experience, the event also included spoken word performances, poetry, and artistic expressions that echoed the central message of breaking free from limiting beliefs. Each segment was carefully curated to align with the globally recognized TEDx format—short, impactful, and idea-driven.
