Governor Oyebanji Vows to Nurture Ekiti Shining Stars as Babcock University Honors Wole Olanipekun
Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State reaffirmed his commitment to human capital development at Babcock University's convocation, where former NBA President Chief Wole Olanipekun received an honorary degree.
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to human capital development, aiming to nurture leaders across various fields and elevate the state’s national and global prominence. This declaration was made on Sunday during the conferment of an honorary Doctor of Law and Administration degree on former Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), by Babcock University at its convocation ceremony in Ilisan-Remo.
Governor Oyebanji praised Chief Olanipekun’s exceptional qualities as a legal luminary and respected leader, highlighting his contributions to bringing pride and recognition to Ekiti State. The Governor emphasized that the administration's significant investment in human capital development is designed to produce more professionals and leaders like Chief Olanipekun.
Expressing gratitude to Babcock University for honoring Chief Olanipekun, Governor Oyebanji noted that the accolades reflect the excellence of Ekiti State as a whole. “This honor is not only for him but also for the entire people of Ekiti State. He is one of our leaders and a guiding light and shining star. To me personally, he is like a father,” he stated.
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, also attended the ceremony and acknowledged Chief Olanipekun’s global contributions. Governor Abiodun commended Babcock University for honoring Chief Olanipekun and another distinguished personality, Mrs. Bukola Smith.

Chief Olanipekun, the convocation guest lecturer, urged graduating students to remain focused and dedicated to the nation’s development, encouraging them to continually seek knowledge for societal betterment. Babcock University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Tayo Adeola, explained that the decision to honor Chief Olanipekun and Mrs. Smith was due to their notable contributions to national growth and development, emphasizing the university’s commitment to recognizing individuals who positively impact society.
