Nigeria's First Reverend Sister Professor of Law to Deliver COOU's 33rd Inaugural Lecture

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Anambra State, will host its 33rd Inaugural Lecture on Thursday, 23 July 2026, with Nigeria's first Reverend Sister Professor of Law, Professor Anne Amuche Obiora, delivering the lecture.

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Anambra State, will host its 33rd Inaugural Lecture on Thursday, 23 July 2026, with Nigeria's first Reverend Sister Professor of Law, Professor Anne Amuche Obiora, delivering the lecture.

The lecture, titled "Constitution and Customary Arbitration in Nigeria: Peace, A Point of Convergence," will examine the relationship between constitutional law and customary dispute resolution in Nigeria.

According to the university, Professor Obiora is the first Reverend Sister in Nigeria to attain the rank of Professor of Law. She has distinguished herself through years of scholarship, research and commitment to legal education, making her selection as the university's 33rd inaugural lecturer a historic milestone.

COOU noted that the inaugural lecture series remains part of its longstanding tradition of promoting academic excellence, intellectual discourse and impactful research.
