GREEN-STEM Africa Project Opens Application Process

In a landmark move towards fostering sustainable development and empowering African women in STEM fields, the GREEN-STEM (Green, Resilient and Entrepreneurial Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Africa Project has officially launched its inaugural call for applications for the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme for the years 2024-2027.

The initiative was funded by the European Union, aimed to facilitate academic mobility and capacity building across the continent.
According to a report by UNILAG, "The call is for suitably qualified candidates interested in running Masters and Doctorate degree programs in any of the following GREEN-STEM Africa Project partner universities: University of Lagos (Nigeria), University of Nairobi (Kenya), University of Rwanda (Rwanda), University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa), and University of Paris Science et Lettres (France)."
For applicants to be eligible, they must be female, hold African national identity, and also originate from GREEN-STEM universities. Selected participants also stand to benefit significantly from this initiative, with financial support provided as follows: For Master's programs, a monthly stipend of 890€ will be granted, while doctoral candidates will receive a monthly stipend of 1230€.

Additionally, the scheme covered visa and insurance contributions, easing logistical burdens for successful applicants. Interested individuals are urged to take note of the application deadlines: The deadline for Master's programs is set for Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. EAT, and for Ph.D. programs, applications must be submitted by Sunday, December 1, 2024, also at 5:00 p.m. EAT.
