"Hall Wardens are Key Stakeholders in the University" — UI Dean of Students

The Dean of Student Affairs, University of Ibadan, Professor Demola Lewis, has described hall wardens as key stakeholders who play a vital role in stabilizing the university.

Professor Lewis made this assertion on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, fspsp, at a send-off ceremony organized by the University of Ibadan Forum of Past and Present Hall Wardens to honour retiring professors who served as hall wardens.

He commended both past and present wardens for their commitment to students' welfare and to the growth of the institution.

"The role of wardens in maintaining discipline, ensuring the welfare of students, and creating a conducive living environment in the halls of residence remains invaluable," the Dean stated.

Professor Lewis noted that the forum, established about fifteen years ago, has continued to promote unity among its members while contributing meaningfully to the development of the university community. 

He encouraged members to sustain their support for one another and to remain committed to the advancement of the university.

In her welcome address, the Chairperson, Socials of the forum, Professor Olufunke Ola-Davies, described the association as a family. She appreciated members for their time, commitment, and financial contributions toward sustaining the forum and ensuring its continuous growth.

Professor Ola-Davies said the gathering provided an opportunity to reunite, interact, and celebrate colleagues who had served the university meritoriously. She disclosed that the ceremony was organized to honour three members of the forum who would be retiring from the service of the University of Ibadan upon attaining the retirement age of 70 years.

Tributes were paid by present and former wardens, who congratulated the retirees and expressed appreciation for their dedication and service.
