In a recent familiarization tour, the newly appointed NYSC Katsina State Coordinator, Alhaji Ibrahim Saidu, paid a courtesy call on the Katsina State Head of Service, Alhaji Falalu Bawale, on Thursday, August 22, 2024. The visit was marked by a warm welcome from Bawale, who expressed nostalgic sentiments about their past together in Katsina.
Bawale assured the NYSC Coordinator of his full support and cooperation, stating, “I will do everything within my office to support you so that the NYSC will achieve its required success.” He emphasized his commitment to enhancing the welfare of corps members and pledged to address several key issues.
Bawale announced plans to convene a meeting with the Commissioner for Youth and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to discuss the state of corps lodges across the local government areas. He also promised to investigate the suspension of state allowances for corps members with the relevant committee.
The Head of Service committed to expediting the delivery of overdue supplies, including mattresses and plastic chairs, to improve the living conditions of corps members. He acknowledged the concerns raised by Alhaji Ibrahim regarding the poor condition of existing accommodations, including dilapidated lodges and transit camps, and the need for urgent renovations.
Bawale recognized the role of corps members as essential workers within the state and assured that their welfare and comfort would be prioritized. He reiterated his dedication to addressing these issues to sustain the NYSC’s operations in Katsina State, which is renowned for its hospitality and heritage.
