History Made as Barrister Nehemiah Shanum Danjuma Becomes First Deaf Lawyer Called to Bar in Northern Nigeria

History has been made as Barrister Nehemiah Shanum Danjuma, Esq., became the first deaf lawyer from Northern Nigeria to be called to the Nigerian Bar.
Danjuma earned his LL.B. from the University of Ilorin between 2018 and 2024, and proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, where he obtained his B.L. in 2026.
He is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, MICIArb; a Member of the Institute of Legal Administrators, MILA; and an MTI Accredited Mediator.
Despite the challenges of hearing impairment, Danjuma remained committed to his dream of becoming a legal practitioner. His journey reflects resilience, determination, and excellence, proving that disability is not a barrier to success when paired with opportunity.
His achievement is expected to inspire young Nigerians and persons with disabilities to pursue careers in law and other professions.
