In a horrifying revelation, the Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old suspect, Akeem, for the gruesome murder of 18-year-old Quadri Salami, an Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) student. The shocking details of the crime unfolded as Akeem confessed to learning about the use of human heads for money rituals through Facebook groups.

The mystery surrounding Quadri's disappearance for almost a month was unravelled after Akeem's arrest. Technical investigation and intelligence gathering led to the recovery of the deceased's decomposing body parts in a shallow grave on December 6, 2023, at Mile 6, Ajebo area of Abeokuta, the state capital.

According to the police spokeswoman, SP Omolola Odutola, the case was reported by the deceased's father on November 14, after Quadri had been missing since November 8. Akeem was traced through the missing boy's phone, leading to his arrest.

Akeem's shocking modus operandi involved burning Quadri's clothes, disposing of his footwear and phone, and preserving the remaining body parts in a plastic bucket soaked in alcohol. The police discovered one of his footwear not far from Akeem's house during the investigation.

Ifaniyi, who purchased Quadri's head and palm, also shared his account, stating that he was unaware Akeem had killed someone to obtain the body parts. The 28-year-old native of Abeokuta disclosed that he used the human heads for personal rituals, learning about such practices through social media.

The suspects, currently in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta, are awaiting further investigations and will be prosecuted. Akeem, who initially practiced divination and native medicine, confessed to his heinous acts, expressing remorse and seeking God's forgiveness.
