A determined Nigerian student named Jideobi Amaka has successfully graduated from Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Nigeria, by selling bean cake, locally known as Akara. “For the past five years that I have been in business, the Akara business has supported not only my education but every aspect of my life", she stated.

In an inspiring turn of events, a determined Nigerian student named Jideobi Amaka has successfully graduated from Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Nigeria, by selling bean cake, locally known as Akara. 

Amaka proudly obtained her bachelor’s degree in Guidance and Counselling from the university, sharing her journey on LinkedIn and celebrating her hard-earned achievement.

Reflecting on her path to success, Amaka recounted how she moved from her village to a more developed area after high school in search of better opportunities. However, faced with challenges in securing employment, she decided to follow in her mother's footsteps and venture into the Akara business.

Starting her business with just 20,000 naira, Amaka managed to grow her venture until she could afford to enroll at Nnamdi Azikiwe University. She admitted that balancing her studies with running a full-time business was challenging. However, her determination and hard work paid off.

In her words, “For the past five years that I have been in business, the Akara business has supported not only my education but every aspect of my life,” 

She proudly stated, “Unto say my five years of selling akara to send myself through school wasn’t in vain. This is my biggest flex, my greatest achievement, I will keep celebrating this coz it’s worth it.”
