The video allegedly shows the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu, claiming that thousands of students are dropping out due to financial difficulties.

In an official press release, the university clarified that the video clip was inaccurately recorded and intended to cause mischief. According to the university, there was no professional representation during the recording, and the Vice Chancellor’s words were taken out of context.

The university further explained that the incident occurred during an impromptu visit by the Director General of Student Affairs, Comrade Bello Barau Sheriff, and his team. They were at the university to submit a letter regarding student Nelfund loans, not for an interview. The university emphasized that the Vice Chancellor’s comments were not reflective of the institution’s official stance.
