Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Suspends SUG President Over Alleged Misappropriation of Funds
As part of the suspension, the SRC has directed SUG President, Emmanuel, to promptly hand over all union property in his possession to the Vice President within the next 48 hours.

The Student Representative Council (SRC) at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike has suspended the students' union president, Chijioke Emmanuel. The decision was reached during the third ordinary sitting of the SRC, held on July 6, 2024.

The allegations against Emmanuel are serious and multifaceted. The SRC, in a letter addressed to key university officials and security agencies, accused him of the following:
- Misappropriation of Union Funds: Emmanuel allegedly mishandled the union's financial resources, leading to suspicions of financial irregularities.
- Forgery: The SRC claims that Emmanuel engaged in forgery, although specific details about the forged documents have not been disclosed.

- Violation of House Rules: Emmanuel is accused of working against established house rules, which has raised concerns among the student body.
- Illegal Sales of Union Scratch Cards: The SRC alleges that Emmanuel was involved in unauthorized sales of union scratch cards, potentially compromising the integrity of the system.
- Unauthorized Withdrawals: Shockingly, Emmanuel is also accused of making unauthorized withdrawals from the union's funds, further exacerbating the financial crisis.

As part of the suspension, the SRC has directed Emmanuel to promptly hand over all union property in his possession to the Vice President within the next 48 hours. Additionally, he is prohibited from identifying himself as the Students' Union Government (SUG) President or performing any duties associated with the office during this period.
