Senator Nora Daduut Appointed as Chair of FUTA Governing Council

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially inaugurated the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA). Distinguished Senator Nora Ladi Daduut, a Professor of French Language from Plateau State who served in the Senate from 2019 to 2023, has been appointed as the new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council.

Other members of the council include Pastor Sikiru Adebayo Raji from Oyo State, Hon. Sylvester Ogbonna from Ebonyi State, Hajia Rafaatu Garba Hammani from Kebbi State, and Rt. Hon. Kenneth Olawale, a former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly.

The inauguration ceremony, held on Thursday, July 4, 2024, in Abuja, was led by the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman. During the event, Prof. Mamman urged the council members to explore diverse funding sources, including partnerships with the private sector, international organizations, alumni, endowments, and sponsored research to ensure the financial sustainability of the institution. He emphasized the need for judicious utilization of the limited funds allocated by the government.
