Ifeyinwa Ezeudu, a Nigerian woman, has obtained a degree in Science Laboratory Technology from the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Nigeria. She then pursued and completed a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and a Doctor of Medicine at Southwestern University, Philippines.

Ifeyinwa Ezeudu, a Nigerian woman, has defied the odds to earn dual degrees at Southwestern University in the Philippines, emerging as the best graduating student.

Ifeyinwa shared her remarkable journey on LinkedIn, recounting how a family member questioned her career aspirations when she was just 14 years old. “At age 14, a family friend who came to visit us saw me studying my books and asked what I would want to be in future,” Ifeyinwa recalled. “I said pharmacist and medical doctor. She screamed, ‘Are you not aware that you are a girl child? Nne, you cannot achieve that as a Nigerian girl.’ I smiled and that was it!”

These discouraging words only fueled Ifeyinwa’s resolve. She promised herself to achieve her dreams regardless of the challenges. Her dedication to her education led her to earn three degrees. She first obtained a degree in Science Laboratory Technology from the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Nigeria. She then pursued and completed a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and a Doctor of Medicine at Southwestern University, Philippines.

Through hard work and perseverance, Ifeyinwa achieved exceptional academic success, graduating with a remarkable 97% grade and earning the title of best graduating student at the university. Not only did she excel academically, but she also made history by becoming the first international student to deliver the commencement speech in the university's 66-year existence.
