Usman Danfodio University (UDUS), has made history by becoming the first international student to graduate with distinction at the University of Mysore in India. Emelife, who earned her Master's degree in Chemistry with a 92.6% distinction grade, received an unprecedented 20 Gold medals and five cash prize awards at the university convocation.
Stella Chinelo Emelife, a graduate of Usman Danfodio University (UDUS), has made history by becoming the first international student to graduate with distinction at the University of Mysore in India, breaking a 100-year record.
Emelife, who earned her Master's degree in Chemistry with a 92.6% distinction grade, received an unprecedented 20 Gold medals and five cash prize awards at the university convocation. This achievement not only secured her the title of best graduating student but also shattered a long-standing academic tradition at the esteemed institution.

"Stella's achievement is a testament to her dedication and academic brilliance," said Professor Sunday Olawale Okeniyi, President of the National Council of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN). "She is a great asset to Nigeria and deserves all the support to reach her full potential."
Emelife, who previously earned her Bachelor's degree in Applied Chemistry with a 4.86 first-class grade at UDUS, pursued her Master's degree through a fully funded scholarship from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

Looking towards the future, Emelife expressed her ambition to pursue cancer research. "Many of my compatriots are suffering from this disease," she said, "and I want to dedicate myself to finding a cure."
Her academic excellence has also earned her recognition beyond India. Emelife was awarded the Ed and Julia Hodges Memorial Scholarship Award at the University of North Texas for her outstanding contributions in Chemistry.
