IGP Orders FCID Abuja to Investigate Kwara Polytechnic Student Killing

On September 4, 2024, Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola, a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, was tragically killed in an incident that has drawn significant attention. In response to the incident, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has instructed the Homicide section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja to carry out a thorough and detailed investigation.

The announcement was made in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police (FPRO) Olumuyiwa Adejobi. According to the statement, the officers implicated in the incident—Inspector Abiodun Kayode, Inspector James Emmanuel, and Sergeant Oni Philip, all attached to the Department of Operations at Kwara State Command—have been identified and detained for investigation.

The IGP expressed his profound sorrow over the loss of the young student and extended his heartfelt condolences to Ishola's family, friends, and colleagues. He assured that justice will be pursued rigorously and that those responsible for this grievous act will be held accountable.
