Ikorodu North LCDA Chair, Adeola Banjọ, Commissions New Classrooms at Gbágà Community Junior High School

On September 23, 2024, Builder Adeola Adebisi Banjọ, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, officially commissioned a new block of classrooms at Gbágà Community Junior High School, Olorunda. The event gathered prominent local leaders, royal fathers, and community members.

On Monday, September 23, 2024, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Builder Adeola Adebisi Banjọ, commissioned a newly constructed block of classrooms at Gbágà Community Junior High School in Olorunda. The event marked a significant milestone for the community, attracting notable figures, including royal fathers and local government officials.

The ceremony, held at the school premises, was attended by distinguished guests such as High Chiefs Olubowale Ayotunde, Baale of Igbaga Ogun Akin; Olanipekun Musiliu Adeshina, Baale of Igbaga Olorunda; Musafau Akinyemi, Baale of Igbaga Akinyemi; Jimoh Odofin, Baale of Igbaga Odofin; and Adebola, Baale of Mojoda Araromi. Other community leaders, including Comrade Saanu Kazeem, Secretary of the Ogunakin family, and Engr. Salako, Joint CDA Chairman, also graced the occasion.

The Executive Chairman was accompanied by key members of the local government, including Vice Chairman Hon. Al-Ameen Apanisile; Prince Niyi Odugbesi, Secretary to the Local Government; Hon. Mathew Adesanya, Supervisor for Education; and Hon. Ayo Abiodun Adekoya, Leader of the Council, among others.

The event opened with a welcome address from Hon. Mathew Adesanya, after which Mr. Adekunle Omoyele, the school’s principal, expressed deep gratitude to all those who contributed to the project. Otunba Kajero, representing the School Management Committee, emphasized the importance of the new classrooms in enhancing educational opportunities for the students.

Builder Banjọ, in his keynote speech, hailed the project as a symbol of hope for the community. He affirmed his commitment to grassroots education, pledging monthly stipends to the school staff until the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) fully takes over the school’s responsibilities. He also called on the community to donate four additional plots of land to support future expansion.

The commissioning ceremony culminated in the unveiling of a commemorative plaque, as Builder Banjọ, royal fathers, and other dignitaries officially opened the new block, which includes three classrooms, an office, and sanitation facilities. The event featured a march-past and cultural performances by students, showcasing their gratitude and excitement.

Baale Olubowale John, Chairman of the CDA and Joint CDA, commended the council’s efforts but emphasized the need for further expansion to address overcrowding.
