The Information and Communication Technology Centre(ICTC) plays an important role in supporting year 1 students and the orientation programme. Here are some functions of the ICT Centre that can benefit first-year students:
We Provide technical support: The ICT Centre provides technical support to students who may be unfamiliar with the university's registration processes, or, that are having issues with their fees and courses registration, computer systems or software. We can help students rectify all these abnormalities, troubleshoot problems with their devices and offer advice on how to use technology effectively.
We Facilitate communication: The ICT Centre can provide students with access to communication tools such as email and messaging systems. This can help students stay connected with their peers, professors, and the university community. Please, make sure you come to the centre to obtain your institutional/university email address that you could use through out your stay in the university, and for all these correspondences and further more.
We Offer training and resources: The ICT Centre can offer training sessions and workshops to help students develop their technology skills. They can also provide online resources such as tutorials and guides that students can access at any time.
We assist with online learning and Computer Based Test(CBT): With the increasing use of online learning platforms, the ICT Centre can help students navigate these systems and provide support for any technical issues that may arise. Your institutional email has a whole lot of these resources like: Google meet, E classroom, Google calendar,Google form, just to mention a few that will support you in this aspect. Obtain your email address, and explore these resources, and use them to your advantage free of charge.
We provide access to online services: The ICT Centre can provide students with access to online services such as library resources, online registration, and course registration/materials. This can help students manage their academic workload more effectively. Make sure you pay your fees and register your courses on time and within the stipulated registration deadline, avoid unnecessary delay/procrastination. It is too early to start having issues that will distract you in your academic work and examination. Avoid these kind of things at all cost, and give maximum attention to your academic work, the reason why you are here.
In terms of the orientation programme, remember all what you were told at the orientation ground. The ICT Centre can help new students get acquainted with the university's technology systems and provide them with the necessary tools to succeed in their academic journey. They can also offer guidance on how to use technology to stay connected with their peers and professors, and offer advice on best practices for online learning. Wish you success!
