During an unscheduled visit to the facility, the minister described the initiative as a “powerful tool for rehabilitation and national development,” expressing satisfaction with the level of academic engagement among the inmates.

The prison education programme has provided hope and transformation, with approximately 150 inmates currently enrolled in NOUN courses, including bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes, and one inmate pursuing a PhD. The initiative underscores NOUN’s commitment to using education as a means of empowerment and societal reintegration for incarcerated individuals.
