The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Isa Mustapha Agwai l Polytechnic Lafia Chapter, has temporarily suspended its planned strike action. The suspension comes in anticipation of a review by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to address ASUP's demands.

During a press briefing on Friday at the Polytechnic in Lafia, Dr. Illah Obadiah, the IMAP Chapter Chairman of ASUP, announced the decision. He stated that if the Federal Government does not review the new Scheme of Service (SOS) within the one-month period, the Union would reassess the situation and decide on further action.

Dr. Obadiah praised the members of the Chapter for their unwavering support and acknowledged the Federal Ministry of Education, NBTE, and the National Executive Council of the Union for their ongoing commitment.

On June 19, 2024, NBTE released a new SOS for all polytechnics and similar institutions. The Union rejected the document during its 110th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja. Following a tripartite meeting with the Federal Government, it was agreed that the new SOS would be suspended and a review initiated by NBTE to address the Union's concerns.
