JAMB Advises CBT Centres to Exercise Caution Ahead of Supplementary UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a cautionary advisory to Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres slated to host the upcoming supplementary UTME, due to the recent challenges encountered during the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME),

RECOMMENDED: President Tinubu Urged to Intervene in Detention of Nigerian Professors in Cameroon

The advisory comes in the wake of significant non-compliance with established rules and regulations observed during the 2024 UTME, leading to the rescheduling of examinations on Friday, June 21, and Saturday, June 22.

Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, emphasized the importance of adherence to laid-down procedures to prevent the recurrence of previous pitfalls that necessitated the cancellation of examinations at certain centres. He stressed the need for CBT centres to exercise diligence and ensure strict compliance with all guidelines governing the conduct of the UTME.

Explaining the rationale behind the decision to reschedule examinations, Prof. Oloyede revealed the board's commitment to fairness and justice, particularly to innocent candidates who may have been adversely affected by the non-compliance of their respective CBT centres.

By rescheduling the examinations, JAMB aims to prevent any unjust punishment of candidates and ensure that all aspiring tertiary education seekers have a fair opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.
