Calls for urgent action to secure the release of Nigerian university professors detained in the Republic of Cameroon for five years have intensified, with lawyer and former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Abdul Oroh, spearheading efforts by submitting a petition to the House on behalf of the detainees.

Mr. Oroh emphasized the critical role of President Tinubu in employing diplomatic channels to resolve the ordeal faced by the detained professors. Speaking passionately about Tinubu's commitment to human rights, Oroh highlighted the President's own experiences as a former exile and refugee, fleeing from tyranny and ultimately triumphing over oppression.

"We realize that these people were not detained under the Tinubu-led administration. Bola Tinubu is a human rights advocate," stated Mr. Oroh.
