The Jigawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the case of a female student at Federal University Dutse (FUD) who allegedly killed her newborn baby. The incident, which occurred inside the school hostel, has sparked widespread concern.

Reportedly, the student gave birth to the infant on Monday and subsequently threw the baby from the top floor of a three-storey hostel building. Footage circulating on social media shows the aftermath of the tragic event, with students expressing shock and dismay.

Lawan Shiisu Adam, spokesperson for the Jigawa police, confirmed that the 200-level student is currently receiving medical care and undergoing therapy. The police have taken swift action, conveying both the deceased baby and the mother to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital Dutse for examination.
