Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has made a significant contribution to education by donating a range of essential items to the KNOSK N100 A-Day Charity Secondary School in Kuje, Abuja. This donation aligns with the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to support communities in which it operates.
The donation, presented on Wednesday, includes state-of-the-art science laboratory equipment, two 20-foot refurbished containers converted into staff rooms and laboratories, 200 backpacks, 2,000 notebooks, copies of the literature book What Sunny Saw in the Sun, and 50 mosquito nets. The new facilities and educational materials are set to greatly benefit the school’s students, who come from the most impoverished households.
James Agama, Head of Corporate Communications at Julius Berger, emphasized the company’s belief in uplifting operational communities. "Our efforts to support these communities are aimed at putting smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries. We believe that any contribution towards enhancing educational environments is invaluable," Agama stated.
Co-founder of KNOSK, Mr. Kingsley Bangwell, expressed profound gratitude for the donation. "The arrival of a proper science laboratory and high-quality equipment is a monumental improvement for us. Previously, we had to make do with converted spaces, and this donation will vastly enhance our students’ learning experiences," Bangwell remarked. He praised Julius Berger for providing "international standard" lab equipment, noting that it will allow students to experience the same high-quality facilities as those in more privileged schools.
Mrs. Irene Bangwell, the Head of Academics, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the transformative impact of the donation. "The science equipment we received is beyond what we could afford on our own. It will greatly accelerate our educational goals and improve our teaching environment," she said. She also acknowledged other past supporters, including the Ford Foundation, US Embassy, and SHE Forum Africa.
Established in 2019, KNOSK Charity School serves children from underserved communities, providing them with access to quality secondary education. As of September 2024, the school supports 195 children, with 127 currently under full sponsorship.
The Julius Berger delegation to the event also included Precious Ayara, Isichei Daniel, and Uzoma Olivia. The company’s generous donation is expected to make a lasting impact on the educational opportunities available to the students at KNOSK Charity School.
