Kano State Polytechnic Hosts JOSTUM Affiliation Team for PGD Programs Resource Inspection
Kano State Polytechnic (KSP) welcomed a high-level delegation from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM), on Thursday, December 11, 2025, for a crucial resource inspection visit. The visit is a significant step toward an affiliation that would allow KSP to offer Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) programs in Social and Management Sciences.
The inspection follows a formal request from Kano State Polytechnic's School of Continuing Education and Postgraduate Studies (SCEPS) to affiliate its PGD programs with JOSTUM.
Professor Bibiana D. Igbabul, Chair of JOSTUM's Affiliation Committee and leader of the visiting team, confirmed that their visit was in direct response to the Polytechnic's letter of intent. She urged her five-member team to maintain transparency and impartiality throughout the comprehensive resource verification exercise.
Dr. Maryam Kabir, Director of the School of Management Studies and representative of the Rector, Dr. Abubakar Umar Farouk, FCA, emphasized the polytechnic's commitment to academic excellence and the necessity of aligning its PGD programs with stringent university standards. She confirmed that, once the affiliation is finalized, successful PGD students will receive certificates bearing the JOSTUM name.
Earlier, the Director of SCEPS, Dr. Ramatu Adamu Muhammed, highlighted the strategic importance of the affiliation with JOSTUM. She noted that it would elevate academic standards through rigorous quality assurance and expand access to postgraduate education in the region. Dr. Muhammed also mentioned that KSP had previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, for PGD programs in Science, Technology, and Engineering.
