Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN), a private institution in Kano dedicated to functional education and academic excellence, welcomed a delegation from KASHAM NGO in collaboration with the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

The courtesy visit, led by Miss Dinatu Dama Maji, aimed to explore collaborative opportunities in community development, youth empowerment, and skills training, signaling a promising alliance between the organizations.
Miss Maji, representing KASHAM Girls, Women, Youth and Community Development NGO—a registered entity focused on empowering young people in health, inclusion, gender-based violence prevention, education, and economic opportunities—expressed delight at the warm reception from KHAIRUN's management. She commended the university's leadership for its commitment to excellence and community engagement, emphasizing that the visit sought to align their missions in promoting self-reliance and productivity among youth through joint initiatives.

The delegation highlighted key activities for potential partnership, including facilitating student excursions, placements under the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES), hands-on practical training, and skills acquisition programs utilizing NITT's advanced facilities. NITT, the apex management development institute for transport and logistics in Nigeria and West Africa, shared its history and resources, which support innovation and professional growth in the sector, offering KHAIRUN students access to cutting-edge tools for real-world application.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdulrashid Garba warmly received the visitors, providing an overview of KHAIRUN's unique curriculum, which integrates compulsory programs in Qur’anic recitation, memorization, moral lessons, and entrepreneurship—core elements of the legacy left by the university's founder, the late Khalifa Sheikh Isyaku Rabiu, a prominent businessman and Islamic leader. Professor Garba praised the initiative, welcoming the proposed collaboration and advocating for a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to structure sustainable partnerships in youth development and community service.
This engagement aligns with KHAIRUN's vision of blending academic rigor with practical, value-driven education, as evidenced by its recent capacity-building workshops for staff to foster innovation and professionalism. The visit underscores growing ties between Nigerian NGOs, specialized institutes like NITT, and private universities in addressing youth unemployment and skill gaps.
Bilal Dahiru Tijjani, Acting Director of Corporate Affairs and Marketing at KHAIRUN, reported the event, reaffirming the university's readiness to collaborate and thanking the delegation for selecting KHAIRUN as a partner in advancing educational and societal goals.
