Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN) has hosted a one-day sensitisation workshop on data privacy protection for librarians, researchers and information professionals, aimed at strengthening best practices in information management and data protection.

The workshop, themed “Data Privacy Protection: Best Practices for Libraries and Other Information Centres,” was organised by the Nigerian Library Association (NLA), Kano State Chapter, in collaboration with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. The event, held at the KHAIRUN Library, attracted participants from various institutions across Kano State.

Declaring the workshop open, the Vice-Chancellor of KHAIRUN, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, who served as Chief Host, expressed appreciation for the university’s continued growth and described the engagement as evidence of the institution’s emerging role as a centre for academic excellence and knowledge exchange.

He commended the University Librarian, Malam Nazir Muhammad, for his efforts in promoting academic visibility through the organisation of professional and scholarly activities, urging participants to maximise the opportunities provided by the workshop for learning and professional development.
