The Kogi State government has dismissed several lecturers from Kogi State Polytechnic following allegations of sexual harassment. This decision, announced on Tuesday, is part of the administration's broader initiative to address and prevent sexual misconduct within educational institutions.
Isah Emmanuel Ojodunwene, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on Students Affairs, confirmed the dismissals during a meeting in Lokoja. The session, organized by the Ministry of Education and heads of tertiary institutions, focused on adopting a comprehensive anti-sexual harassment policy.
Ojodunwene emphasized the administration's zero-tolerance policy toward sexual harassment, asserting that offenders will face stringent penalties. He also announced measures to enhance oversight, including the removal of beds from offices to prevent misuse during night shifts.
The Kogi State government has called on students across the state to report any incidents of harassment, promising prompt action against perpetrators.
