Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, has initiated a new programme on Border and Migration Studies to capitalize on its strategic location as a gateway to the outside world. The announcement was made during the matriculation ceremony for part-time diploma students enrolled for the 2023/2024 academic session.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, emphasized the university's commitment to evolving with the demands of the contemporary world and producing graduates with global relevance. Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Olufunso Omobitan, Olatunji-Bello affirmed the administration's dedication to propelling LASU to greater heights through strategic agendas.

Describing LASU as a student-centered institution focused on grooming future leaders, the Vice Chancellor underscored the importance of students' responsibilities to the institution and society. She urged the matriculating students to prioritize their studies and exhibit good conduct, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for deviant behavior. Additionally, she reminded part-time students that forming student associations was prohibited.
Prof. Ibraheem Bakare, the Director of LASU Consult Limited, highlighted the growth and progress of the organization since its inception in 2019. He revealed that over 2,000 students were admitted this year, marking an increase from the previous year.
The commencement of the Border and Migration Studies program reflects LASU's commitment to academic innovation and addressing contemporary global issues. As the university continues to evolve, its focus on providing relevant education and opportunities for its students remains paramount.
