LASU Seeks Support as it Sets Sights on Hosting Best-Ever FASU Games in Collaboration with UNILAG

The Lagos State University (LASU) is gearing up to co-host the forthcoming Federation Of African Universities Sports (FASU) games with the University of Lagos (UNILAG). The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, has assured Nigerians of LASU's commitment to making this edition the best ever. Preparations for the 11th edition, scheduled from September 20th to 29th, 2024, are already underway, with LASU aiming to secure victory in the competition.

Speaking at a conference held at the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate building, the VC emphasized the importance of collective efforts in ensuring the success of the event. LASU's Marketing/Fund Raising Committee is actively seeking support from individuals, corporate bodies, and vendors to showcase goods and services during the games. This collaborative approach is crucial for showcasing unity and collaboration among Nigerians.
With LASU's rehabilitated sporting facilities and the support of over 50,000 students, the university is well-equipped to co-host an unforgettable sporting spectacle. The Vice-Chancellor expressed confidence in Lagos as the ideal host city, given its status as the Center of Excellence and a melting pot of cultures.
In response to concerns about accommodation, Professor Olatunji-Bello reassured participants that LASU has made adequate arrangements, including the provision of hostel accommodations for 2,000 participants.
The FASU games, held every two years, have been hosted across various African countries since its inception in 1974. LASU's collaboration with UNILAG for the 2024 edition reaffirms Nigeria's commitment to promoting sports and fostering unity across the continent.
