LASU Shines at 2025 Nigerian Law School Ceremony with 10 First-Class Graduates, Best Female Student

Lagos State University (LASU) once again reaffirmed its reputation for academic excellence as ten of its graduates earned first-class honours at the 2025 Call to Bar Ceremony of the Nigerian Law School held in Abuja. 

Among them, Lawal Maryam Abiodun, a graduate of Common and Islamic Law, stood out as the Best Graduating Female Student of the year. 

Lawal also emerged as the Second Overall Best Graduating Student out of the 7,134 students who participated in the session, making her achievement one of the most remarkable of the ceremony.

VC Commends Outstanding Students Reacting to the achievements, LASU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, celebrated the honorees as exemplary ambassadors of the university. 

She emphasized the university’s commitment to producing top-tier legal professionals. 

“These awards are a testament to the strength of LASU’s academic training and the dedication of our students and faculty,” she stated. 

“I wholeheartedly congratulate all our legal stars and also commend the Dean and our hardworking Law lecturers for their relentless commitment to building excellent scholars and legal professionals.” 

A Record of Excellence 

This year’s record surpasses the nine first-class graduates LASU produced in 2024, marking a new milestone for the Faculty of Law. 

The school continues to be a beacon of legal education and leadership in Nigeria.

In a related development, LASU was recently ranked the top university of choice in Nigeria, according to the 2024 application data released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). 

It overtook previous favorites such as the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), reflecting its growing appeal among prospective students.
