The management of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) has urged the newly elected executive committee of the National Union of Lagos State Students (NULASS), LASUED Chapter, to uphold accountability, discipline and democratic leadership as they begin their tenure.

The management of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) has urged the newly elected executive committee of the National Union of Lagos State Students (NULASS), LASUED Chapter, to uphold accountability, discipline and democratic leadership as they begin their tenure.

The newly elected executives for the 2026/2027 session paid a courtesy visit to the university management on Monday, June 22, 2026, to formally introduce their leadership and discuss issues relating to student welfare.

The delegation was received at the Multimedia Complex of the Vice-Chancellor's Office by representatives of the university management on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye.

Addressing the student leaders, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Daodu Moruf Adedayo, commended the executives for their conduct, appearance and presentation. He urged them to serve as role models to other students by maintaining discipline, avoiding misconduct and striving for academic excellence.

Professor Adedayo also reiterated the university's zero-tolerance policy on cultism and other social vices.

The University Registrar, Mr. Akinfemiwa Opeoluwa, charged the executives to demonstrate accountability, transparency and integrity in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Also speaking, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Dawodu R. A., reminded the student leaders that they represent both Lagos State and NULASS and should distinguish themselves through impactful programmes and responsible leadership.

He encouraged the executives to begin planning for a seamless transition to future administrations by building a legacy of achievements, maintaining proper documentation and mentoring emerging leaders.

The Dean also commended the university management for its continued support of student activities, particularly its contribution to the success of the recent Student Week celebration.

He further acknowledged the significant improvement in electricity supply at the Oto/Ijanikin Main Campus, noting that complaints from students about charging electronic devices had reduced considerably. However, he appealed to the management to extend a similar level of stable electricity to the Epe campus to improve the learning environment.

In addition, he prayed for a successful and peaceful tenure for the student leaders, reminding them that greater responsibility comes with higher expectations.

The staff advisers of NULASS, Mr. Dotun Oluwa and Mr. Mayegun Olawale, also urged the executives to uphold the highest standards of accountability, leadership and service throughout their administration.

Speaking on behalf of the union, the NULASS LASUED President, Comrade Wahab Hassan Kehinde, thanked the university management for its continued support and described the courtesy visit as a tradition aimed at demonstrating respect and appreciation for the institution's leadership.

He reaffirmed the union's commitment to serving as worthy ambassadors of Lagos State while protecting the interests of students across both campuses of the university.

During the interactive session, the NULASS executives presented several requests, including the allocation of office space for a dedicated NULASS secretariat. They also highlighted the union's unified executive structure, which serves students at both the Oto/Ijanikin and Epe campuses.

Responding to the request, Professor Daodu acknowledged that the Vice-Chancellor had previously indicated a willingness to consider the proposal and advised the union to submit a formal reminder to the university management for further consideration.
