LAUTECH Gains International Funding Prospects Through Soun of Ogbomosoland's Collaboration
The Acting Vice Chancellor of LAUTECH, Professor Rasaq Olatunde ROM Kalilu, has thanked the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, for connecting the university with a U.S. institution to explore funding opportunities through grants.
The Acting Vice Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Professor Rasaq Olatunde ROM Kalilu, has expressed gratitude to the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, for facilitating an international linkage with a United States university. This collaboration aims to secure funding opportunities for LAUTECH through grants.

During a recent familiarization visit by the monarch to LAUTECH, Professor Kalilu praised Oba Olaoye's visionary leadership and commitment to elevating the university's status on the global stage. The Soun of Ogbomosoland emphasized the need for LAUTECH to aspire beyond being the leading state university in Nigeria, urging the institution to compete globally.
Professor Kalilu highlighted the significance of this collaboration, stating, "Kabiyesi has connected us with influential figures in the US who can assist in attracting grants for our development." He expressed optimism about the materialization of prospective grant support and appreciated the monarch for his unwavering support towards the university's growth.

In response, Oba Olaoye commended Professor Kalilu and his management team, describing LAUTECH as "a pride of Ogbomoso and Oyo state." He acknowledged the role of the Oyo state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, in revitalizing the institution and urged the VC and his team to focus on establishing LAUTECH's prominence in selected fields to attract foreign grants.
The monarch emphasized the importance of engaging the university's alumni in the institution's development, revealing that alumni support plays a significant role in many foreign universities. Oba Olaoye also inspected some facilities at LAUTECH, including new laboratories and a TETFUND-executed hostel, to explore further collaboration opportunities.
With this new international linkage facilitated by the Soun of Ogbomosoland, LAUTECH is poised to enhance its global presence and secure vital funding for its development. The collaboration underscores the importance of strategic partnerships in advancing the academic and research capabilities of Nigerian universities.
