Three years after Federal Government’s approval of the Federal College of Education, Iwo Osun State, a member of the House of Representatives, representing Ayedire/Iwo/Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency, Hon. Mudasiru Lukman (L&K) has paid an inspection visit to the permanent site of the college.
L&K was taken on a tour for an inspection of ongoing construction projects at the permanent site in the college by the school Provost, Professor R.I Adebayo and the Registrar, Dr. Adebayo Lasisi.
The project sites visited were the School of Education building, Lecture Room, Information and Communication Technology ICT building, The rest were Administrative building, Library and Micro Teaching Laboratory.
He also held a separate meeting with the management of the school where major challenges facing the school were discussed, among the challenges enumerated by the Provost were shortage of fund for the completion of ongoing construction of buildings at the permanent site of the college.
He solicited the support of the lawmaker in facilitating more funds for the completion of the projects.
He informed the lawmaker of the assistance the college has already received from the host community, Iwo to include land allocation, fund raising for the initial take off among others.
"Some of the projects in our permanent site have been stopped because the school has exhausted the budget allocated to it, we solicit for your help in facilitating more funds through your office for their completion
"We commend the community for the support received for the initial take off of the college, among the six colleges approved by the government, Iwo has the highest number of students".
In his response, Hon. L&K being one of the critical stakeholders who facilitated the college to Osun State and finally to Iwo even before he became a lawmaker assured that his office will not rest on his oars in seeking further discussions with relevant agencies at ensuring that the college receives the required attention from the federal government.
He further assured the management that he will do all that is needed in making sure the college is captured and catered for in the 2024 budget.
"As one of the stakeholders who agitated for the establishment of the college of Education in Iwo even before my assumption of office, I am not surprised with the good news that it now has the highest number of students amongst the six colleges that got the Government's approval, this was one of the basis of our agitation then
"I want to appreciate the management of the school and assure them that I will do everything in making sure the school receives the necessary attention by the Federal Government
"I am equally happy that the management is bringing to my notice, the situation of things in the college, I will swing into action in ensuring the college is cared for in 2024 Budget". He said.
Among the dignitaries in the entourage were the Senior Legislative Aides to the representative, Hon. Imran Ibrahim Akala, his Personal Assistance, Hon. Musa Osunwo, Prince Lekan Lamuye and many others.
