May your happy memories give you peace, says FULAFIA VC Prof. Abdul Rahman as staff buries wife
The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has attended the funeral ceremony of Queen Onawo Nariba, calling on the people to remember that “we all shall one day return to our Creator.”
Queen Onawo Nariba, 40, was the wife of Dr Joseph Ezekiel Obuje, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Federal University of Lafia.
Until her death, recently, she was a 500-level student in the Department of Social Work, Federal University of Lafia.
Addressing Obuje in his condolence speech, Abdul Rahman said: “I am sincerely at a loss of words. I can't imagine how difficult this is for you, I want to just let you know that you are not alone in your grief. My thoughts and prayers go out to you during this dark time.”
Abdul Rahman said that it was hard for him to express in words the sorrow he felt on hearing the news of the loss of Obuje’s wife, adding that this period was an incredibly tough time for Obuje and his family.
Calling on Obuje to accept the death of his wife as the will of God, the vice-chancellor said: “May your happy memories give you peace and comfort during this challenging time.”
The vice-chancellor was represented at the funeral which was held in Agbashi, Doma LGA, Nasarawa State, by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Prof. Aleruchi Chuku.
He prayed for the family to be able to overcome the shock of the death of their mother, sister and wife.
The funeral was attended by many staff of the University including the ASUU Chairman, Dr. Sunday Orinya, the Ag. Dean of Faculty of Arts, Dr. Al-Ameen Abdullahi Adam, Prof. Sirajudeen Adam, Prof. Amos Ambo, Dr Dlama Joseph Zira, Human Resource Desk Officer of the FULafia, David Musa Edibo, and Pastor Femi Ogungbemi.
