McPherson University Appoints New Bursar

McPherson University has appointed Mrs. Aderonke Olukemi Adeofun as its second substantive bursar, effective October 2, 2024. Her appointment was approved by the institution's Board of Trustees, following a recommendation from the Governing Council’s Selection Panel

McPherson University Appoints New Bursar

McPherson University, Ogun State, has officially appointed Mrs. Aderonke Olukemi Adeofun as its second substantive bursar, following approval by the institution's Board of Trustees. The announcement was made in a letter dated August 26, 2024, signed by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Rev. Dr. Babatunde Idowu.

The letter conveyed the decision of the Board of Trustees, which met on August 22, 2024, to endorse the recommendation of the Governing Council’s Selection Panel, appointing Mrs. Adeofun as the new University Bursar. She succeeded Mr. Ademola Osanyinro, who had served as the Acting Bursar since 2023, following the completion of Mr. Yemi Onilado’s two-term tenure as the first substantive bursar.

Mrs. Adeofun is an accomplished accountant with dual Bachelor's degrees in Zoology from the University of Ibadan (1987) and Accounting from Crescent University, Abeokuta (2013). She also holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), obtained in 2011.

A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) since 2012, Mrs. Adeofun qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2000 and is also a Chartered Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM). Her extensive career spans over two decades, with experience in both the private and public sectors.

Mrs. Adeofun began her professional journey as an Audit Trainee at Muyiwa Bunmi Ogunlela & Co., a Lagos-based firm of Chartered Accountants. She further honed her financial skills at Askar Paints, a manufacturing firm in Ibadan, before joining FUNAAB in July 1999. At FUNAAB, she progressed from the position of Principal Accountant to Deputy Bursar, a role she held from May 2017 until her recent appointment at McPherson University.

Her appointment as the new bursar took effect on October 2, 2024, marking the beginning of a new chapter for McPherson University's financial administration. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Mrs. Adeofun is actively involved in community service and church activities as a member of the Foursquare Women International.

Mrs. Adeofun is married and has two children. In her leisure time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and cooking.
