Meet Abubakar Baraya, ATBU Best Civil Engineering Student

Abubakar Usman Baraya hails from Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State. He is the third male and the fourth child of his family. He was brought up in Gombe, Gombe state.

Baraya attended Model Primary School Gombe for his primary education. At that level, he held several positions ranging from Class Representative to Health prefect (which is due to his excellent performance in science related subjects).

He proceeded to Darul Arqam Academy, Gombe, for his secondary school education. There, he served as the Academic Prefect/Assistant Head boy. He represented his school on several occasions such as the National Mathematics Competition, Cowpedia Maths competition alongside several other inter school/LGA/State competitions.

With regards to religious endeavors, he attended the same Darul Arqam Academy, Gombe (the school operates both Islamic and Western Education in form of "Half Boarding"), where he completed Memorization of the Glorious Qur'an in 2013. He represented the school in Qur'anic Memorization Competition held within the state.

In 2016, he scored an aggregate score of 268 in UTME along side all other O level requirements. However, in Almighty's will, he couldn't secure admission into ATBU BAUCHI, Until 2017 when he scored an aggregate of 226, and was admitted into the Department of Civil Engineering. He has been the best students in his class since his admission into ATBU and incredibly achieved a 4.96 GPA in his first year.

Aside academics, he is a principal officer at Alhilal Computers, a computer based business enterprise fully registered with the CAC. The company engage in procurement of computer systems and accessories, alongside graphic design. 

In pursuit of his professional career, he has since been partaking in several Civil Engineering constructions, most importantly, within Gombe State. some notable among which are: Rehabilitation, Expansion and Upgrade of Gombe Water Supply Scheme, construction of mega box culverts and other projects.

In addition to his outstanding academic achievements, Baraya's dedication to his classmates' academic progress and his commitment to serving society are truly commendable.  His involvement in civil engineering projects aimed at improving infrastructure, exemplify his deep-rooted concern for the welfare of his community and society at large. Baraya's model character and passion for making a positive impact serve as an inspiration to all.
